Welcome to CICAWA
Crane Industry Council of Australia - WA Branch

Formerly Crane Association of WA

CICAWA formerly “CAWA” is a service organization dedicated to representing companies which own, operate, hire, manufacture, service and market mobile cranes. It was formed in August 1989 and is the successor body to the crane division of the West Australian Road Transport Association. In 2016 CAWA voted to join the National body CICA and today we are known as CICAWA

The council is the voice of the industry and has an impressive record of achievements including:

  • the introduction of 24 hour travel of eligible cranes which significantly increased crane utilisation and productivity;
  • 12T per axle for All Terrains;
  • 43T for 4 axle truck cranes;
  • Class 1 MRD Statewide permits;
  • Self Weighing for Licensing;

The council provides advice to members on Regulatory issues and is in close contact with the government agencies which impact on the mobile crane industry namely Transport, Main Roads, Worksafe and through CICA with the National Road Transport Commission.

As the peak body in Australia for members it provides a range of opportunities for members to participate in issues and activities. Quarterly meetings of all members are held plus Committee Management meetings as required. Guest speakers feature at some meetings and there is also an annual Christmas function to allow members and partners the opportunity to socialize and discuss issues outside of work hours.

As an individual it is difficult to be well versed on every issue affecting your business. CICAWA provides a one stop shop for you to find out how these issues may impact on your business and ensure that you are not adversely affected. If you are making your living in the mobile crane industry and are a current member of the association you will appreciate the benefits the association has to offer you. If you are not a member we take this opportunity to ask you to consider joining your fellow industry representatives in improving the industry for the benefit of all.

The industry’s interests are safeguarded by the very existence of an organized group serving as a watch dog able to act when needed. A united voice is more powerful than a single voice.

There is a financial contribution required to become a member with the amount depending on the number of cranes in the fleet. The fee is not excessive especially when compared to the benefits on offer. You are encouraged to join the council and help us present a united front across the industry.
